It's an aluminum block motor. It's lighter than the Teksid, but not as strong.
Since this is an efficiency build, I'm going for the lightest block that's feasible. Once installed, I'll drop 77 lbs from the car.
I love a good economy build, I find it just as interesting, if not more, than one strictly for power. I suppose that's because so few people do them. But power and efficiency can go hand in hand, to a certain point. 77pounds is a nice drop in weight! I should have known from the picture that It was aluminum, but I didn't take note for whatever reason.

more MPG's but less M's from those modular motors. My high mileage one is at 247k but only gets 21 mpg. No oil usage though so it levels out. I guess if you calculate the dollars saved in fuel it might pay for the engine replacement, but frankly I'm lazy and its easier to pump gas in than it is to change engines.
