got my 89 crown vic lx today

i was looking at this car online for about 4 months and finally decided to go and buy it today. listed at $1250, i got it for $850. orig owner is an 87 year old lady. her daughter made her give up her license at the beginning of the year. it was driven about once a week for the past 6 or 8 months. 132,560 on the odometer, well 32,560 i am assuming it rolled.

interiors looks like it did on this day in 1989. power everything (except passenger seat) intermittent wipers, auto on/off headlights. i dont think she even used the tape deck. speakers sound BRAND NEW. pretty impressive for being 17 years old. no rust at all, except on the tail pipe, but from that back to the headers is shiny new stock exhaust.

the only bad things i have found so far are:

after about 60 miles of driving it the speedo got stuck at 35 mph, happend a couple more times. tapping it got it unstuck.

didnt notice (i swear) till i got home that there is a dent in the pass rear behind the wheel well. looks like she swiped something. i think i can prolly pop it out from inside the trunk with a rubber mallet or something.

    a bush/cheney 04 bumper sticker

lastley, sometimes when i floor it real quick it takes a split second longer than it should to accel or downshift, but not that noticable really. but this thing drives like a dream, absolutley no complaints. i am gunna change the oil and plugs n all that good stuff tomorrow so hopefully it will help.

sorry i didnt take any pics yet. but i will real soon here. all i have now are the pics from the online ad. already put 90 somethin miles on her lol (65 were going home.)

her name is Queen Victoria. ya her me?

        ooohooHOOOO!!!
        very nice Vic!
        great color!
        and the top is purrrfect!
if you want to get some more of the gloss/color to come thru...do what Drock told me to do:
        wash.
        clay.
        work in ScratchX.
        Cleaner Wax.
        and smile

it will make a big difference..worked for me! and my paint was already in excellent shape...you'd be suprised.

              Sounds good, welcome to GMN

I might suggest checking the TV bushing on the throttle. The 89 would have a plastic one, and they tend to deteriorate with age, and it can make the trans shift a little funny. If it falls apart, you can burn the tranny up, and thats no fun. THey make a brass replacement one for fairly cheap, like 5 bucks or something at a Ford dealer.

I think I can help with that. Use a hair dryer to peel the sticker away. The heat will take off most of the adhesive with the sticker. Then just use some nail polish remover (with acetone) to get rid of any sticky residue. If it's been there since '04 the bumper might be a little different color under the sticker. Oh well, it beats having that shit bumper sticker on there.

Is he really banned, or did he put that like I saw some other people do.

I dunno, I'm pretty sure he's gone. At the very least he isn't coming around anymore. He decided we were all just a bunch of mean, meat-eating idiots.
