Well I thought I'd update this page too. About two weeks ago, I nearly lost Vicky yet again. This time with the damn feed tube for the oil pressure gauge. What had happened was, the exhaust burned a hole into the hose, causing all 50psi hot oil to spray out all over I95. At 65mph, and blue smoke shooting out the back, I pulled over on I95 and looked at the shitstorm that had just befallen me. Upon first thoughts, I thought it was and internal problem valve seals or something. When I looked at it on the side of the road, I couldn't tell where it was coming from, just that it was hemorraging from the driver's side of the block. So I had shut the car off and after an hour, I had her towed somewhere, where I could look at it without fear of getting killed by crazy PA drivers. So upon looking at it again, I found that the oil leak had been caused by the tubing. I was pissed. So I replaced the tubing with a metal replacement, and filled my oil. It took nearly 5 quarts, so basically, if it had ran for any longer, the engine would've been fucked. Also killed the battery with the hazards. So I got a new damn battery too. Oil pressure still reads right though... 52psi cold idle, 23psi at hot idle. I consider myself very lucky.
This was another reason why plastic has no reason on an engine, and why it's important to route wires and tubes away from things that could damage them.
I also found my power steering leak when I changed out the battery. Seems it's coming out of the big hose on the pump. So I got two new hoses ready for the pump, whenever I get around to doing it. Gonna do a flush and whatnot while I do the hoses. The one hose doesn't have any fittings. It's the smaller one. Does that mean I reuse my old fittings?
Damn! Sorry to hear that. Though at least you weren't hurt and your car ain't toast. That could have gone so many different ways bad. I probably asked this before, what color are you gonna paint Vicky?
