not really. long pair of needle nose pliers to get the nut on top of the stud is helpful. Once its started, hold the nut with a wrench and turn the shock in by hand till its tight.

When I did the rear shocks on my car for the first time, it was very easy (and they were the original shocks). I disconnetec the lower mount, and spun the top portion of the shock (without even a wrench up top). Once I broke it free (not hard), I put a long shank wrench on the top nut, from inside the rear wheel house. Let the wrench bind itself against the body as you turn the shock out.
When I put the rear shocks in, I reach up above the rear crossmember, and drop the top rubber donut on, and then the washer, and finally the nut. You kind of have to use your finger tips to put the nut on, but usually the shock stud is 'startability' friendly.
Then put the wrench back on, and spin the shock tight (until the donuts get mushed a little). Not hard to do.
The hardest thing for me was putting uncharged (not gas charged) shocks in the front. The stud didn't come up through the hole enough, and it just wasn't fun (vise grips on the stud to pull it up worked). But, you are more than likely using gas charged shocks.
Oh, and make sure you buy good shocks.**2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302: 5.0/ 6 spd/ 3.73s, 20K Cruiser

Not Monroe. Althought the F150 shocks I had were Monroe, and they seemed to be decent.**2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302: 5.0/ 6 spd/ 3.73s, 20K Cruiser

I can't wait to see pics of your car on the road. I would offer a hand in the shock and dual upgrade, but I got inventory on Saturday and Fun Ford @ Englishtown on Sunday. Though my Dad did have this offset wrench for rear upper shock nuts. Made life a lot easier. Perhaps I can deliver that to you if you don't already have the remedy. Good luck mang and enjoy that CV.

offset wrench.
rear shocks are easier than the front...
I have police app KYB GR-2's waiting for the 85... most any shock brand will list police/non-police application... police are usually a little more yes.
Cheapest I found them was on rockauto.com
