                Second Trip to the track

Got 8 passes in today. The morning fuckin sucked. First four passes the car would not hook up at all. The starter was getting super pissed at me. Ended up dropping 15lbs of pressure from the rear tires to get it to hook up. My numbers were horrible for the first few passes, 17.634@79.70, 17.708@79.49, 18.764@79.21 these were the worse passes of the day. Things stared to get better, ran 17.139@79.4, then a 17.112@78.8, a 17.023@79.70, a 17.005@79.65, and finally a 17.002@79.66. Track was incredibly hot today, over 30*C. I was talking to one of the guys bracket racing in the street E/T class, he said he was running the night before and his time was almost 3/10's slower today in the heat. He dialed in at 14.72 the night before and today he dialed at 14.98. IF it was cooler, I think I could have been in the 16's. So, with everything I've changed so far, I picked up .117 seconds, mind you it was around 20*C last time I was there. I'm going to see if I can switch shifts Friday night so I can go out for the night when Its cooler to see what it will run, I also ran with the stock airbox and my CAI tube, and made my best pass with the tube in place, but I didnt have it boxed, so It couldnt have made much difference. Oh well, I had alot of fun and got pretty sunburnt. Heres some pics and a couple videos.

Just so happened the Test'n Tune staging lane was beside the Top E/T lane. Got this vid of one of the cars starting up. Burning Alcohol never smelled so good.

While I was waiting to run my car, I went and sat in the stands for a bit to take in some racing. Watch the starter slip, its funny. Even funnier to me cause...

one of my favorite cars there today, the entire body was made from diamond plate aluminum.

                I love this

Changes from the last time I ran: Rear sway bar, front frame braces, A/C delete, A.I.R Delete, New plugs, MSD Blastercoil, H.O upper and T.B, 14*btdc, stock muffler and tailpipe gone with a dumped Flowmaster 40 series, rest of the exhaust is stock, 130lbs of weight removed, and 235/60R15 tires, Injen CAI (not properly setup though)

hey man did you know 88's and up require emmisions test every other year now, they quit that 20 yrs and older thing, they say 87 and down will never need one but 88 and up will need it till the car turns 30, so if you have to go in for one they will fail you beacuse of no smog pump, mine is removed to but my car is an 84

Ahh, but I have a way around that Dave. I am a liscensed Ontario Drive Clean Inspector, my cars never fail. Also, they have completely done away with the pre-test checksheet, looking for the A.I.R system, cats, blowing blue smoke, ect. They dont care, they just want your money now and dont want you to fail the car before the people pay for it. Government money grab.

ohh ok i see, sweet, and here i am worried about being pulled over for a emissions spot check, people have warned me about that and i dont have the smog pump, egr valve is there but not hooked up, pcv valve not hooked up cause the hoze that was connected to the carb plate had developed a big vaccume leak, charcoal canister not hooked up, i guess the only emmision control on my car is the 2 converters now

If your car aint loud or suspicious looking, they wont bother you. They pull over alot of stangs to check them around here.

Just realized I got no pics of The H.O Upper install and aluminum valvecovers.

These fuckin bolts drove me insane. The dark one on the left is one that my dad found in our workshop that threaded perfectly into the passages I had to block off in the back of the heads. Gold one is a 5/8 bolt, what I was told to buy to do the job. 5/8 bolt was too big. I had wasted 2.5 hours running around trying to find hardware that fit, so I got fed up and cut the bolt that fit in half, then slotted the one side so I could screw it in.

                          All done

After sandblasting, re-surfacing the flanges, and 10 coats of heat paint

Still dirty from the trip, sorry.

4000kms later, and they are still white. I'm suprised.
