    My 1985 Crown Vic Value

Not sure if this would be the correct place for this thread. If not mods please move it.

I’m contemplating selling my 1985 Crown Vic. Many things factor into this and if I ultimately decide to it will be a difficult decision. One of the biggest factors will be money, of course, and that’s where I’m stuck. I’m unsure of what’s an appropriate listing price (I’ve got an “ideal” number in mind; I’ll post that later) Here is a list of details on my car:

-39,850 original miles (I have original window sticker and supporting documentarion.
-I am the third owner; I purchased with 34,500 in 2019.
    -3g 130 amp alternator.
    -2 row aluminum radiator.
-True dual exhaust with magnaflow mufflers.
-Timing chain and water pump replaced at 35,000 miles.
-Runs great; all accessories operate properly.
-35% window tint on sides and rear; 50% on windshield. Tint is llumar CTX.

What do you guys think a good number would be?

in this market, you might be able to get 5 figures if everything works. If the dash is all cracked up, consider putting a colored Coverlay ABS dash cover on it for full price options. The window tint will reduce some options as some states the windshield tint is illegal. But I'm sure with a car that clean, you can command at least 8K. If it's rust free underneath as well, then I would say post up for 15K and see what happens. If you want a quick sale, go for 8K.

The box market is small so it takes a long time to get top dollar. On a national stage such as BAT, you are more likely to find your buyer willing to pay more. Not sure if it works out in the headache and fee category. Sedans have a tough time fetching $6k+ locally. Nice cars languish on Facebook.

Need some more pictures to really throw a value on it. Underneath, engine bay, the more the better. It's the minty showroom cars that really bring the money.

      Has it been repainted?

Thanks guys! The dash is in immaculate condition. I put the cover on there to protect it and cut down on the glare. The undercarriage is in very good condition. It had surface rust when I purchased it but it’s been treated. It was sanded down and the entire undercarriage covered with rust encapsulator. That was done right after I got the car and has held up very well (car gets stored for the winter).

It has been partially repainted. The front fenders were replaced two years ago due to rust. The entire front clip was repainted at that time. The rear quarters were also repainted in 2020 due to rust repair. Nothing was rotted…just surface rust along the bottom edge. All other paint is original.

I can get more pictures next weekend. $10k is the number I had in mind. I really am conflicted on selling it. I never drive it because it’s kept in a storage unit not close to where I’m living. The fees are starting to get ridiculous. Unfortunately my living situation is unlikely to change anytime soon necessitating it remaining in storage for the foreseeable future. If I could put it somewhere I didn’t have to rent I wouldn’t be considering selling it. Just exploring all my options and wanting to make the best decision.

Good luck with it. Those cream puffs are wasted on me... I like to drive my stuff and traffic here in the metroplex tends to destroy cosmetics.
