    Heh, you got lucky alright.

The tester I bought does have a jig to put injectors in, but I'd have to take 'em all out. Here's hoping the bolts holding the fuel rail down don't snap off like they did at the junk yard... I think I'll invest in a compression tester first, so I can rule out cylinder #8. Can anyone confirm that 5.8's use a 19lb/hr injector? I did notice in that seller's listing there wasn't a direct spec posted about those injectors, just a part number, which of course means nothing to ignorant me. Least not at the moment...

orange are 19, blue are 24. No idea on the part number. I don't know which this is supposed to use but it would be determined by the ECM. If you know what thats out of, maybe one of the truck guys could tell you what that application ran.

Hate to say it, but the "truck guys" over on ford-trucks.com haven't been very helpful. Most helpful post was months ago about the ECM's I had. Z2D1 is what I'm running. That database shows it as "Z2D1= 5.8 Bronco, F-x50 E-x50 SD-Bank." I've been trying to ask for confirmation on the thread I've got going over there and I'm only hearing from crickets. It's a little discouraging. Factory injectors, well, at least the ones my truck is running are orange. Oddly enough, I made another thread unrelated to the engine swap woes. In there someone posted he's got a '92 351/E4OD truck he's parting out. Going to see if he'll sell me his injectors and other odds & ends, provided his truck actually runs right.

..Would you gamble on those eBay injectors I posted?

Probably if they really are Bosch injectors. Thats who made the Ford ones. If they are Batch or Botch or some other knockoff probably not.

If you can get your hands on the special service specifications book for whatever year that ECM is supposed to be for, it should have a whole list of associated emissions parts including the ECM program code and the injector part number. I have one for 1991 that might have truck stuff, but I don;t know what year range that ECM is, or if my book also happens to include the trucks.

Ok, I think I'll pull the trigger on 'em once I get compression numbers back, really curious to know if #8 is ok. What would acceptable compression numbers be?

Would that be another one of those $45-$85 door stops? I bought a couple service manuals for that truck, not worth the price of admission so far.

The special specs book has almost nothing of value in it, unless you happen to want to know what specific part number emissions-related crap are paired with a particular calibration code. It will give you the ECM part number and the injector part numbers as part of that list. It pretty much exists for California smog check shit but this is probably the only other thing anyone would use it for. The master parts manual may also be able to tell you but I don;t know for sure.

The factory service manual and the EVTM are the truly valuable books, the rest are almost a curiosity or for bragging rights. I've got others that I got for very small money but unless you trip on them for a couple bucks I'd say its hard to justify bothering.

Example page. If you have the full part number off the ECM maybe its in here, but nothing in this book is newer than an F2 number.

Thanks gadget. Hoping it'll be easier to find the torque spec for the upper intake than it was to find a reference for the spark plug wire routing.

Anyway, I talked with a dude who said the only way he tests injectors is to check for resistance. I have no idea what the spec is for these injectors. I do remember they all sounded the same when testing though, only cylinder # 3 was suspect. Now I think I'm going to pull the trigger on a noid light kit. Would this one work?: Amazon.com: Noid Light Test Kit, Fuel Injector Tester Tool Noid Light Set, Fuel Light Fuel Injector Tester Kit 11-Piece : Automotive

Compression tester still hasn't shown up.

Lastly, does anyone have a PCV set-up from a 351 or 302 truck they'd be willing to sell & ship to me? I'm looking for the stock set-up, specifically the special thing that goes in the grommet of the valve cover under the upper intake that the PCV valve then sets in. The whole assembly would be great to have though.

Noids tell you the injector is getting the electric signal to fire. They do not provide any injector performance data.

Yes, this thing has had an engine swap and so I'd like to verify the wiring to the injectors. Does the kit linked contain one that'll fit my injectors?

Typical kits will have bosch injector lights. maybe a loan out toll from autozone or the like?

Really only 2 common injector connection type. The older square one is the EV1, the later oval one is the EV6. That covers the bulk of injectors out there.

Good information. If only I could purchase an additional seven of the noid lights I need, I could then see if the injectors are batch firing correctly. I recall being told that the wiring harnesses are interchangeable between 5.0 and 5.8, so it shouldn't matter. But whatevs, the thing is already torn apart.

I am not proficient about the 351's but the 302's were all sequential by 93. Not batch

One oxygen sensor = batch fire
two sensors = at least possibly sequential

I do not know the trucks in any detail but the wiring diagram would tell you. Do you know for sure what the harness and ECM are from?
