Most areas have a legal requirement that drivers involved in accidents MUST trade insurance and contact info. Not sure if you did but if not, in the future, call the police and get a preliminary report ON THE SPOT!

The damage to my car is just the rubber guard on the bumper (see photo) and minor paint transfer to the chrome on the bumper.Originally posted by 1985crownvicltd85 View PostPhotos:
At least your car is so minimally damaged that there's no chance of it being written off. The same damage done to the other car, but to yours, very well may have resulted in that with a standard auto policy.

Fault determination in any sense that matters is done by the insurance companies, and really only matters for the purpose of affecting your driving record and whether or not you pay a deductible. In Ontario, regardless of who is at fault, every person goes through their own insurance company and is compensated by their own company. As I understand it, this is a version of what is sometimes called "no fault" insurance.

Advantage of the old knee knocker bumpers that extend beyond the edge of the vehicle and actually protect it.

.... Forgot to update: July 26. She was found to be 100% at fault.
Apparently they (Insurance/Body shop of my choosing) searched all over North America to find me a rear bumper. They couldnt find one. So, instead I received a payout.
I've been meaning to find an extra set of front and rear bumpers for this car anyways.
So. I'll be on the lookout for those.

No luck with any front or rear gmq bumpers, although I haven’t been looking very hard. I did pickup a header panel for the car (just in case)
It got a new muffler and will need a new y pipe or h pipe really soon.(not sure which route I want to go yet)
I did all 4 ball joints, control arm bushings, front shocks, rotors, bearings, pads, oil change, greased the front end.
Also bought some snow tires and mounted them at work. The car looks really odd to me without the white walls or white line tires (whatever you want to call them)Last edited by 1985crownvicltd85; 12-31-2024, 05:55 PM.

Not sure how far you may be willing to go, but slexwild has a 1982 part-out near Chicago: https://www.grandmarq.net/vb/forum/s...ia#post1401724
It's a Ford and I don't know if the bumpers are still there.
Let me check on my stash of bumpers, I might have something for you. I'm pretty sure I was running a mid-80s Mercury bumper on the wagon before it got the early year bumper, and I do have one "emergency spare" rear bumper for an 87- sedan but those are so hard to find that I wasn't really intending to let go of it.
edit: reviewing the photos from earlier in the thread, it's not even clear to me that you need a whole bumper, maybe just the plastic strip if you really feel like fixing it.Last edited by kishy; 12-31-2024, 07:06 PM.

Honestly, after going outside and really looking at the bumpers I’m perfectly happy with the way the back bumper looks, Its mainly the front that I’m hoping to find. But at this point it’s only for cosmetic reasons.Last edited by 1985crownvicltd85; 12-31-2024, 08:25 PM.
