Did some de-ticking today... the noisy lifter seemed noisier than usual lately (again) and it was due, so I gave it a flush-engine-with-ATF treatment and oil change - quieted that right down. I also tightened up the header collector on one side, getting rid of another annoying fluttery tick. I had thought a head flange was warped on that side or something, it wasn't real loud but I'm glad I saw the little black telltale carbon smudge while i was under it.
Still slacking hardcore on the LED DRLs... I cut my spending off after buying the xbox... lol

I drain all the oil and use 4 quarts of ATF, idle it for 5-10 mins or however long you want. As i did mine I could hear the lifter get quieter and quieter...
Do at your own risk though, like any engine flush, you run the risk of loosening up gunk that could clog your oil pickup screen. My short block is relatively fresh and the valve/lifter valleys dont have any build-up so I wasn't worried about mine.
