How would you do that? My C10 has the double wishbone and coils front suspension, and I wanna convert it to a solid axle like what you have (keeping the coils though, connecting the axle to the frame via Jeep Wrangler trailing arms), but I have a hard time finding one that has disk brakes and is not from a dually truck - can you convert a drum brake to disk easily?

Just grab an old chevy I-beam axle out of an old car or truck. You can buy the disc brake kit(uses camaro rotors and calipers ) at just about any streetrod parts place. I'm getting mine from ECI.

It's real simple you just remove the drum brakes, unbolt the backing plates, bolt on the caliper mounting brackets(in place of the backing plates ). The hardest part is fitting the adapter to the spindle for the newer rotors. And it's pretty simple to do too.

Ah, okay then, thought it might be something like that - cool, I'll look into it after New Year when my tax return goes through.

Boo 351! Yay flathead! Flatties forever!

Okay, they're not too great for power-- but they're sooooo cool!

hey you should Box in that frame! That 351 would make enough power to twist it and boxing them is just safer

If it still had the flathead in it when I bought it I would be running the flathead. But flatheads are expensive to build. And I really want a motor that I can get parts for at any auto parts place. And I had a truck with a good running 351W. But now I need the 351W for the 4x4 I just bought. So I'll have to just see what happens.

The frame is plenty beefy. I'm adding a couple crossmembers so it should be fine.

Yea body is in real good shape for a 56 year old MN truck. It has a couple small rust spots and the floors need a couple small patches(3 or 4 silver dollar size holes ). I'm very happy with it.

I'm going to scale back on my plans for it now that I'm getting another 2dr CV. I'm just going to throw a stock motor in it and make it a daily driver(good weather, no winters ). Then the CV will get the performance build up.

Well I got the engine and trans pulled out of my 91 F250. But the engine goes into the 90 F250 4x4 I just bought. But The ZF 5spd is going in the 50.

                      Here's the 91 while I was pulling the engine/trans.

                      And here's the ZF 5spd.

Now I just have to find a good motor for the 50.

Put a 312 Thunderbird y block in there, and find a factory supercharger($$$).

Nope, It's getting either a 351W or an Explorer 5.0L converted to a 4V carb. I need a motor that will be dependable and that I can get parts at any parts place. A Y-block or a Flathead V8 are just too hard and too expsensive to get parts for.

Nothing exotic. Just a fun driver.

Go to most of the auto part places and ask for parts for a flathead or Y-block Ford. They look at you like you're from mars!!

I like traditional style cars but I'm not a die hard traditional kind of guy. I'm more of a Hot rod guy. I use what I've got or can get. If it's not 100% traditional it doesn't bug me.
