    Kimono_skunk's CV

Just picked up my CV this morning from my brother in Delaware. And I must apologise, as I was incorrect in my origonal post about what I THOUGHT I was getting, and what I now have.

I am now owner of a 1997, not a 2003 CV PI. Gray in color, with about 112,000 miles on it. Gray interior, and all police stuff removed. No badges whatsoever. Stock crome hubcaps, not police caps.

Runs OUTSTANDING. Dual exhaust btw. New plugs, wires, battery, tune up, oil change with synthetic.

I am quite happy with the car, and it runs great, only small nitpics are I was hoping it was the newer body style, and the corner of the hood does not fit 'quite' flush with the passenger side fender.

Will post pics as soon as I can.

    bows

Congrats on your purchase man. The 92-97 style of Panther grows on me every time I see one.

      My opinions on the car...

It does look like an absolute bare bones CV PI. Black rubber floor mats, no carpeting, and tiny bucket seats with seat covers. Huge plastic overhead light looks like an add-on from Peppy Boys. Aftermarket CD Radio as well, which is fine with me. The trunk is huge, and again, no carpeting with a full size spare. (Thank GOD, I hate those Mickey Mouse spares.) Does need the front door trim added as well, along with some repaint, or some serious fender touch up, as the paint appears splotchy at lenth. Passenger door has a small squareish dent about the size of my instep of my foot.

Thankie, just brought it back from a lenthy drive to the mall and back with the wife and daughter in the car. Wife overall likes the car, along with my 2
year old, as long as she is in her seat.

Now the car is bone stock, with the 'I think' stock 2.73's in it. Will Not light them up at all, from either the miser gearing, or the meaty tires on the car, but I did manage a 1st gear chirp when floored. Very meaty Firestone 15's on it as well. accelerating is good, with the growl coming from the dual pipes through 3rd gear, and will then lope along in OD.

On the highway, the CV would just cruise with my foot barely on the gas. I don't have a tach so I cannot guess how fast the engine is spinning. But laying on the loud petal will make the car scream and rip up to 90 with a LOT of petal to spare. My butt dyno tells me, Impressive passing power. One thing I did notice was a good many people slow down when they approach my car to pass, and realise I am Not a cop, then will hurry away.

Braking is excellent, with 00 fade, as expected. 255/70/15's sure are grabby.

In windy roads, CV is best described as lope-ish. Not an F1, but leagues better than my regular Neon.

Around town, the car keeps going into OD, so I just turn it off when I am local to my home.

Now my immediate plans are for better interior carpeting, and seat covers to make driving more comfy, if possible. also the driver door interior panel needs replacing, as I think the entire door was replaced. Same color outer door, just the buttons and panel is different from the passenger door.

I'll look into the history to see if the car was in an accident, hence the new door.

Then after the interior is done, I will start on updating the motor, tranny, wheels and exhaust, to make the car a lot better than it is now. Just one thing at a time.

I'm sorry for the huge post everyone, but this is my first Panther, and I am overall fairly happy with it, considering it was a gift more or less from my brother. It was his patrol car for the past few years.

      Thank you all... bows,
      Kimono_skunk

You can check the gears by looking at the AX code on the door sticker. Probably has 3.08 open end rear. Good to hear it runs well and you're happy with it.

No apologies needed. This is your ride thread, so post as much or as little as you want about your car. My Reader's Ride Thread is 8 pages now, and my first post was some 15-20 images lol. Which brings me to my comment, WE WANT PICS!!
