    Door alignment

Is ther a simple way to fix this alignment. See the picture. It seems my door is pushed inward toward the car too much. Rest of the door is fine just that side that's near the striker

The striker holds that adjustment for you.

Loosen it a tad and it floats in the hole. Move it outwards JUST A tiny bit. The striker also moves up and down so be cautious.

May experience wind noise as the door will not be sealing as tight as it used to be.

It moves plenty. Be prepared to futz with it quite a bit before you are happy.

If the plastic on the striker isn't in good shape, replace it while you're messing with it. Usually it means a whole new striker bolt but they're cheap.

The bushings are usually replaceable if the big washer will come off. You can buy either the complete striker bolt or the bushings. The Help section at the auto parts store may be able to get them. I got a box of 50 bushings on ebay for less then $20.

Excellent advice Tom. I ordered some then saw them on the friggin' shelf at O-reilly when I went to grab some stuff. Doh!

I bought some kind of small plastic pipe (pvc maybe) at the home improvement store and cut my bushings out of that. Works nicely.

+1 on the homemade solution, several times in a row now I've run into aftermarket replacement strikers that have bushings with OD too large for the jaws to close around it properly. I mean they will close alright, and then they won't wanna let go of it when you try to open the door. If you're inside when that happens, or outside and your vehicle is an F-series truck or E-series van, then you can open your door with application of enough brute force. If you're outside and it's a Panther door that got stuck on you, say hello to your broken door handle.
