    Underhood mat

    Dear Panthers,

    Any recommendations for sound deadening?

For cabin noise from the engine?
Firewall in the cabin, under the carpet, that aluminum backed butyl rubber stuff works pretty damn good. Find stuff that's at least 1/8 thick or thicker. If you can find 1/4 inch thick stuff, that would work excellent. It's kinda spendy that thick though. Might be cheaper to double/triple layer the thinner stuff.

Brand options that are known good:
      Dynamat
Cascade Audio VMAX (not as thick as some of the Dynamat options, but works well)
      FATMAT
      BOOM MAT

Thicker is better for noise reduction, but obviously too thick will cause fitment issues with the interior. Working the material as high up the firewall as possible and down under the front seats at least with at least 2 layers over the trans tunnel and firewall to really cut down the noise.

Also there is paint on bed liner with optional sound deadening. I used both bed liner and "that 1/8" stuff" Sly mentioned in the the 89 wagon. It worked well. No fitment issues

I still have some left but hope it is enough for the next wagon.

This is what you want for underhood. Not sure if it's big enough for our absurdly large hoods though.

160KMs 600cfm holley, shorty headers, 2.5" catted exhaust, 255/295 tires, cop shocks, cop swaybars, underdrive pulley, 2.73L gears.
waiting for install: 3.27's, Poly bushings, boxed rear arms, 2500 stall converter, ported e7's, etc
