I will take pictures of the areas in question and post them

Pantera is correct though in asking for pictures to show the real situation.

Flaking paint normally equates to surface rust.

Bubbling paint normally equates to pitted metal with rust forming on the backside.

I will do that tomorrow.......if it has not started to rain due to the hurricane expected to effect the entire east coast.

The q-panel has rust due to the F-ing body side molding glue!..the shit ate into the paint:-(..also the materials are already there.....the car will be done after hours inside of the Jag dealers body shop...remember I said he runs the body shop....the only thing he can't get is the paint, how would he explain paint for a brand X car? This guy did my buds '64 Tempest in that shop...If I had an extra 10k to toss then yea, I have another place in So Jersey I would take the car to.....but I do not so....the car will look better than it does now...and remember the ride sits on the street in NYC....I would never do a resto on the car as long as it sits on the street un-protected. But I appreciate your thoughts.

Backside of those areas will be all messed up. All your moonlight guy will be doing is filling up the rust holes with filler. Also, you couldn't even purchase the all of the materials for this type of job for the price you were quoted even with you providing the paint which will never match a 30 year old paint job that sat outside forever. Just letting you know based on prior experience

Why don't you have him do the whole car? I am sure you can get a great price, get paint that will look even. It will be easy to prep the whole car. The most important thing is you will be much happier. Spend the money,do it right. Just my opinion.

wow... that A pillar looks like it's made of filler.

Jeez, I hate to say it but that thing looks rotten. New panels or cut out and patch the cancer as that all looks to be rusting from the inside out. You're not going to be able to just grind that down, skim some filler and paint over that, especially that A pillar. If that happens it will show thru again in two years tops. New rust blisters will just push on the bondo until it pops.

Either grind-n-fill with POR-15, or he will cut out area and tack weld in a patch

I must say you have a mess. I have seen worse A pillars ! They were on a Buick Regal and in Ca. A good body man can do wonders. Just my opinion, spend the money and have it done right. I think it could turn out well. The previous work based upon the pictures was not done well. I think you would be very pleased if it was done well. I would be using the Por 15 wherever I could.
