I (mostly)finished the halo upgrade and tested out the bulbs I have.
First I had to get new covers for the halos, the stock ones could be modified(I did one) but it looks pretty bad since you lose the ridges that you can see when the light is off, you could recreate them but I don't see going through and getting that right. The halos on the lights from Dapper are meant to hold 2 little LEDs, the COB halo I am using is about 1mm thick so you need about 1mm under the halo for these to fit.
This is stock next to modified stock.

I found halo covers on ebay and bought them, they are hollow in the middle.

If the COB halo had fit in that open area, that would have been great, but it didn't.
I trimmed the sides off the covers to make them fit right but now they are in and look ok.

Mine stopped coming on all together. Could it be the ballasts?

yea they do. I fiddled with one of the connectors and it seems like its loose, is there a way to tighten up the connection? Aside from wrapping electrical tape around it.

pinch the female connections a little with some needle nose so they grab the spades better.

I think its the auto headlight switch that prevents the lights from coming on.

                  More choices?
There exists a smaller projector retrofit by Morimoto called the Matchbox, it's for "foglights" but it's bi-xenon which is not a foglight function so I picked up a set.
Standard Morimoto projectors don't fit in the 4x6 headlights, cutting would make them fit though as was standard in older retrofits.

The Matchbox has a 1.8" lens, just 0.2" smaller than the ones used in the Dapper lights.

You could have great light using just one set of these little projectors for your high/low and a stock or non-sealed high beam, or get 2 sets and go to town with more light.
Unless on sale, these Matchbox projectors are $120, a set of cheap non-sealed 4x6 light housings is less than $20 with glass lenses, add your own bulbs and a harness and you're well under the Dapper price(even if you go for 2 sets of projectors you'll be under the Dapper price).

Interested to see how these look installed. I'm concerned about how much glare they might produce for other drivers, as well as long-term reliability. I understand that LEDs are the more reliable option, but they're ugly as sin.

I mean, look at this thing.

Putting it here because I keep forgetting to mention it. It's not very exciting at the moment.

I use stock assemblies because unless you are driving in the "boonies" I have no reason to light up an entire city! No worries about fit, they last a long time (at least mine have) and they provide more than enough light without getting the other drivers to "confess"!!

This is what I was thinking, this looks like overkill to me. That video hurt my eyes.

I might opt for the HELLA set with Silverstars or something. I don't think this is necessary.

Everyone has their own opinions as to if the extra work/expense is worth it - I for one, do not but that doesn't mean someone else shouldn't bother. I just don't see the return. Standard halogens work fine for me!

I wouldn't mind using the LED uglies for high beams... kinda like to light up the world when I use the high beams.

                                I second that.
Horns and high beams. I seldom use either, but when I do I want people to notice.
