    vinyl roof stains

So, I just took my Lincoln out of storage and noticed it had brownish spots and brownish running stains on the roof (half vinyl roof). I though it was pollen, but when I tried to swat it off, I noticed it would come off. I used warm water and soap...no luck.

..So I used very fine steel wool with lots of soap and water to combat a small blemish spot...BAM!! Came right off!!! I know this is probably a no-no but it works. It also worked to get other scuffs and blemishes out too!!

Do I know what that was.....NO!

Do I know how it got there....NO!

    But it came out!

I also need to buy this Aerospace 303 that everyone is talking about.. I hope they still make it

Well, I did it. I believe it was 0000 type steel wool. NOTHING ELSE WOULD TAKE IT OFF!!

Yeah I see it, I will buy a bottle. I am assuming this doesn't have silicone so it wont keep moisture inside the vinyl. It's made for our vinyl roofs, right?

Not sure if they specifically mention vinyl roofs but I and Dave have used it (among others) with good results. Bobby

I am assuming this 303 cleans the vinyl and protects it (meaning I din't need another product to preserve it)

Also the soap, water, steel wool works great for getting into the crevices !!!

Yeah, I just cleaned my roof and then used the 303. Let it dry and BUFF it out, with a rag. One time, I put it on and never buffed it. The next rain and it ran!!

How did you clean your roof? I thought Aerospace 303 does that? So you apply this stuff, let it dry, then buff it out.

Sounds like you have already cleaned it. Any good vinyl cleaner should work after what you have done. The rest is what I have stated.

I just bought it 32oz for 17 and some change plus tax.

Everyone recommends it, seems to be better then armor all/turtle wax/eagle, etc

303 has a cleaner and a protectant (2 different products). I have and use both on my Lincoln. The top was already in need of replacement when I got the car, but no new holes have shown up since.

So you're teling me a i just got the protectant, right?

I guess since I already cleaned my roof (well, scrubbed) I am in good shape to just use the protectant

You will have to decide that - if it is clean, go ahead and use the 303. Can't tell from here....can always go over it with a good vinyl cleaner if you are not sure.

Well, I took it out of storage again and what do you know, those same brown stains on the vinyl top. What gives???

What is a good cleaners to get these stains out. I want to avoid using steel wool so should I ssuse dish soap, hot water and a brush???
