    Will it look good???

    As I have previously mentioned, I am planning on doing a resto on my '86 MGM Tudor.

    I have never been a fan of padded roofs:-(

    That being said..............how would the car look if the roof was stripped down to paint, and just prepped and painted as if the car did not have a padded roof?

    I would love to see if any members have done this exact thing.

    A few folks have, it looks just as sexy as the slick top police cars, but more, because its a grand Marquis!

      makes it look like the cheap model, but that comes from a guy who drives a Lincoln.

        there will be areas in the C pillar to fill in (remembering from pictures, about 4 inches wide from the rear window to the rear side window - not sure if this was tudor only or 4-door or both), but other than that, everything should be metal under the vinyl.

                Another thing to keep in mind is that the trim around the windows is different on the Crown Vic than the Grand Marquis. I'm not sure how that would look without the top on... maybe you would have to swap in the CV trim?

                  If you run your hand along the top, you can feel the unfinished areas under it. There is another spot at the top of the B-pillar.
                  1990 MGM: $50 E7 heads, HO cam, Holley SysteMAX lower intake, HO upper intake with an Explorer TB. LSC ECM. Lincoln logs into stock dual exhaust. K&N drop in air filter. Wide ratio AOD, 2400 converter with a 3.08 one tire fire out back. Car is less slow now. Then there's the '92 Beater. Dual 2.25" exhaust with shiny tips. Rumbles nice. Super slow. Burns oil too.

                    I'd think in order for it to look good for you a trim swap would be in order for the 1/4 windows. I have a spare drivers side one if you decide to go this route and have trouble finding one.

                      I actually kind of regret using the vic window trim on my car. I may strip the paint from all the trim around the vinyl and get it anodized.That way, the bottom trim that runs under the quarter glass, stays in one piece. That or, just put the vinyl top back on
