    Fixing a Front Bumper Rub Strip

    So, as luck would have it, I managed to pull off some of the rubber bump strip off my front bumper this morning by clipping the corner of the fence while reversing out of the driveway. I fishtailed on the ice in a way that I managed to just pop the plastic piece off (thank god).

    It's looking like the clip portion is busted though. Is there anyway to get the rub strip back on without it looking hokey?

    The bumper is an '87.

    glue. put some gorilla glue on what's left of the tab (clean the contact points first) and press and hold for whatever the hold time is. Should sort it.

      Cool. Thanks. I actually picked up some of that 3m double sided tape on my lunch break to give a try. If that doesn't work, I'll go the gorilla glue route.

        I'd just get a new to you one. SOme drive a drive a screw in her. Tape may work out well though....make sure to read the directions. May not like the cold.

          that tape may work. May need a hair dryer for application if it's too cold out though.

            I've had no luck with tape, I just use a rivet with a black head, can't even notice it.

              Well. You guys called it. The tape didn't like the cold. It seemed iffy on the metal side and completely didn't want to cooperate with the plastic side.

              I'll try the screw idea next as it's easier to clean up than glue if it doesn't work out.

                I would screw it in and cover the "hole"/screw head with black silicone.

                  A fastener is best. A small stainless nut and bolt works good. Put a dab of black paint on it, if you like.

                      Finally did a temporary fix using a black drywall screw and a coca-cola bottle cap on the rub strip. I used the coke cap as an anchor for my screw on the inside of the bumper. Worked like a charm!
