    79-87 Trunk Lid Dimensions

    Hey All,

Does anyone know off hand what the dimensions are of a 79-87 trunk lid? I think I may have found one but I'm trying to figure how I'm going to haul the thing back home.

    Thanks,
    -Erik

Should fit "sideways" in your trunk. I hauled a 91 trunk lid in my '87 (carefully). Would re-locate the spare but that should be it. Bobby

you can also grab some foam to protect them from each other and just ride it like a wing upside down on top of your existing trunk (with strapping of course).

        Thanks for the replies guys.

The thing is, I was planning on taking the ferry across from LI to CT to bypass having to deal with the headache of traveling through NYC. I'm not sure if the ferry company will be okay with the trunk just strapped in. I was thinking of possibly jamming inside a gutted PT Cruiser that my friend has available. Do you guys think it will fit in there?

Edit I'm also looking locally but it doesn't seem to be much around on the island. Morriches JY is usually good with older cars but last time I called them, they crushed their last box CV back in Nov.

Remember guys that grand marquis hoods are significantly smaller than crown vic ones.

I measured my '89 trunk. Here are the approximate dimensions:

            38.5''x65.25''x12.5''

How close do you guys think the older model trunk will be to my current one?

...Now that I'm thinking about it, they must be almost the identical as they both bolt up to the same size trunk..right?

on the vics, the squared off older one will look funky on the rounded off tails on the 88-91 if it fits at all.

I have the older tail lights waiting to be installed. I already did a full nose conversion as well as both front and rear bumpers. (From an '87 donor car). I'm just a trunk lid away from being done. (I think there also might be some modifications to where the trunk locks to but I'm not sure yet...)
