    88-91 rear bumper on 79-87

I've seen 88-91 front and rear body work swapped onto older models except the rear bumper. Does anyone know what the issue is with rear bumper?

I would think the issue is with the filler panel. The aero box filler mounts to the tail lights. Where as the box, has the filler mounted to the bumper.

So if I swapped the whole rear end including tail lights and fillers it would bolt on?

I believe so. Iirc, the only issues are with the '79-'82 box because, the tail light panel is different. '83-'91 should be the same. The box bumper is much better looking, no? It makes the car look wider imo.

I prefer the streamlined look of the newer bumpers. Older ones look like they belong on a larger car. I will only do the conversion if I can swap all the parts over.

I've seen a few swaps done but all of them kept the older style rear bumper which is why I am asking if these is something special about it that would prevent an easy swap.

It might need to be spaced in or out... if it's close to the body for the aeroboxes, obviously that's a complication. Spacing it out would be relatively easy.

I think the aero box has the spacers. Do yo plan to do something with the front bumper?
