    Need help on striker bolt

    The nut in the door jam on the left rear got cross threaded. Is there access to this nut without hacking up the sheet metal? Needless to say, this really pissed me off.
    1992 SHO(what's left of it)

      What do you mean Mike? The nut is a metal plate held in place with bent metal tabs. Should be able to gain access to it by removing some interior panels.

        And the body mount bolts are the same way.... And not accessible. I just figured it'd be the same.

          Possibly. I know though on my car you can reach the nut for the strikers with ease. Never looking into it on the four doors.

            its vaguely possible you can get in there if you remove the panel next to the rear seat but I'm not sure what you'll get. Might be just enough to get in there and work on it. I think I might try re-tapping it in place first though. Don't have much to lose at this point, its already screwed up.

              I had the nut drop down too far on a front door on the 88 - I was able to remove the interior B pillar cover to at least get a hand on it.
              Hopefully you can take out the rear seat and side trim to get to it the same way.
