i heard the general altimax reviews were bad very bad traction in wet weather. i think i will be going with Bridgestone Potenza(50,000 mile warranty V-Rated) or Turanza Serenity(70,000 mile warranty, H-Rated) tires.

I've driven his car in the rain, didn't have any trouble with it. Then again, Lincolns tend to be near unstoppable with almost any kind of tire that has tread on it. I've driven mine with 4 mismatched shitty Maypops and managed to get around in the snow OK.

I've got some cheapo tires I bought at pep boys I dont even remember what they are but they were buy 3 get one free and there even whitewalls. They are by far the best tires I've ever had regardless of conditions and they do amazing in the snow I'll have to look at em and see what they are when its light out tomorrow

Go with a 235-60-16 it's a better size for box Panthers. Both Altimaxes are highly rated by both actual owners and tire reviews. All of your all-season tires will suck in winter use, with the Cooper being the best (marginally) of what you listed.

Go with snow tires if you can in 215-65-16. I have had the Firestone Winterforce which are decent for the money and now have Continental ExtremeWinterContacts and they do very well but are much, much quieter and smoother riding than the Winterforces but are only available in the less desirable 226-60-16. The Altimax Arctic is also available in the desired size and gets decent reviews as well.

i dont want to throw off my speedometer reading so its staying 225/60/16. now revising my choices and looking at Hankook Optimo H418(70,000 mile warranty H-Rated) and Futura Touring HR(40,000 mile warranty H-Rated). might even try definity HP800(50,000 Mile warranty V-Rated) the futuras being the most expensive out of the bunch.

It's true, I have Michelin Radial XH4 tires (whitewall also) and they've been on the car since 04 and have about half tread left. I keep them at 35psi since that's max and unless it's on snow/ice I can't hardly break one loose. I'm gonna replace them come next winter because they're cracking due to age and by next winter they'll be almost 10 years old, but if they were new i'd keep them since they hold the road very well. Like you said, I think the car has a lot to do with it, lots of weight holding them down. That's why I can't wait to put new shocks on and find a non PI sway bar (so it'll fit my LCA's) so I can find out how well they really handle if I throw it around a corner.

My next tires will be either cheapo all seasons or cheap winter tires since i'm upgrading to 15x7 wheels and 255/60 tires for summer. So do winter tires last as long as average all season tires? Like would Winterforce tires last 50k miles?

What's swaybar choice have to do with your lower control arms? Unless you mean rear swaybar and you don't want to bend down the control arm lips to clear the 1" bar?

That's what I mean, rear sway bar. There's already a front bar, at least there's a bar that looks to be a sway bar, can't figure out what else it could be. I just need a rear bar, and I don't to to modify my stock LCA's or get police ones, since I just cruise mostly the smaller sway bar will be fine.
