Roof and Fender Issues on my '94 GS

I just purchased a '94 Grand Marquis GS Park Lane edition (with a black cloth roof).

It's a great, solid car with only 115K miles, but there are 2 body issues I need to deal with. The mechanical condition of the car is good enough that she's worth the investment.

#1: The driver side front fender is rusted on the bottom, behind the wheel and below the door trim. Is this a common area for rust? Are there patch panels available to repair this (and if so where) or is my best bet a junkyard fender or a replacement (and where would I get the replacement)?

#2: As I mentioned the Park Lane has a black cloth roof. Actually it HAD the roof, we were driving down the highway last night and the cloth separated from the roof. For safety reasons I had to pull over and cut it off, and removed some of the other parts of the cloth top as well. What would be my options for repairing this, with cost being the major factor? Can I get the cloth replaced, the fiberglas roof overlay that is attached to the car appears solid. Or, should I remove this overlay and just have the roof repainted? What other options might there be?

    Thanks in advance...

I'd get a quote from interior shops for re-covering the top. There is likely much bodywork to be done if you want the roof to look ok without the coach roof stuff.

A good junkyard should be able to order a brand new fender for you. I was able to do so, when I was fixing up my '93 GM (sold) and '92 CV.
