LED Bulb Conversion(In Progress)

so i am really sick of the stock bulb wattage outputs so i am going with led all around inside and out.


so right now i am gonna start with outside which will be all led Bright white bulbs. now i came across 2 that i like i just want your opinion on which one to buy.

which do you think is better.

Both of those are outdated and will suck in an exterior application. You need different style bulbs depending on what kind of lamp it is, and there are much better style bulbs than both of those. Those kind came out 10 years ago... don't just buy whats cheap.

oh yah, those are the better ones. Those are closer to 912 size so they might not (but still might) fit where a 194 goes.
Those will be good for filling a lense up with lots of side-emitted light.
Where in particular do you want to put these?

They won't fit in your interior any place. I know this. No idea about outside though....never tried.

i plan to put the led white ones in the cornering lamps, parking lights, tail lights, and brake lights, license plate light, trunk light and hood light and opera lights. all the lights outside the car will be with the led white ones. inside will be all red led lights. if there is a shorter version of this led bulb please send me the link.

nonono... always match the color of the LED to the color of the lense. Red behind red, amber behind amber. The colored bulbs are usually cheaper than the white too.
"White" LEDs put out a blue-ish light that gets filtered heavy by a colored lense.

not even in the door panel armrest lights? They use 912 size bulbs, but I havent tried putting that size replacement in those so I dont really know.

I've got 36 count LED clusters in my reverse lights...they put out a lot of side light that's wasted. They look brighter in the lenses, but the light isn't aimed too well...I'm tempted to try the older ones that fire all the same direction.

My LED bulbs didn't work great for these, they just didn't put out enough light as far as actually finding something small in the trunk or tinkering at night. Those fancy new bulbs will be better, but you might not be satisfied. I bought a one foot strip of LEDs for the trunk and wired them in, works much better. You could plaster the underside of the trunk lid with those if you wanted! I've thought about it.... lol

Yeah, the design of the lamp, the orientation of the bulb in it, and if it has a reflector or not will determine if you need a forward or side emitting bulb. Some bulbs are a nice mix of both.

I've been experimenting with LEDs for a long time and my suggestion is to get Osram Joule LEDs for the tail lights. They were designed specifically for regular housings with reflectors so they light up the whole lens like a regular bulb. Those are the bulbs that can be found on new Mustangs, 06+ Mountaineers, Sables and Taurus X models.

I am not sure what to suggest as far as the front turn signals go. Because the light is so wide it will be hard to distribute the light evenly. Your best bet is to probably make a front facing LED panel. Here is a video of my LED turn signals. I used a set of LED flashing lights off Ebay. I ripped the LED panel out and merged them with stock housing.
