Ultra-rare box Town Car accessory trunklid?

I saw something the other day I'd never seen or heard of before.

This was on a ratty Town Car Cartier, 1987 I believe. Definately '85 or newer for an ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY.

    The trunklid had a hump.

I have seen add-on humps that screw or glue to the factory, non-humped Town Car trunklid. THIS WAS NOT THAT.

This was a unique, non-Mark VI trunklid. It was one piece, all steel, no seams like you see with the add-on humps. The humped portion was more vertical than a Mark VI's in the same way the Versailles' was more vertical, though it was not as tall a hump as either the VI or Versailles.

I am KICKING myself for not getting pictures, but I was running late and it didn't really occur to me how rare what I had seen was until about an hour later when I had time to slow down.

Anyone ever seen one? Was it a Lincoln accessory, or was it aftermarket? I'm guessing aftermarket. I asked a friend who was very into Lincolns right at that place in time and he had only seen the grafted-on humps.

I recently saw one of these too! I couldn't get my phone out in time to take a picture. It was crazy... looked absolutely factory but there's no way. No idea what its history is.

I'd love one on a Town Car, if I ever had one

        Thank god!

I was afraid no one else had ever seen one before and this would turn into a "it's a Mark VI you idiot" kind of thread.

I have searched all over the internet for any mention of this trunklid, and if there is any, I sure as hell couldn't find it. Maybe we are the very first on the web to ever mention it! These days, that doesn't happen too often. I'd post here more but 99% of things that would ever be said about the Panther already have been. I mostly just read.

Pictures WILL happen if I ever see that car again. Judging by its condition, it ain't gonna make it too far out of town...

I'm positive there's one around here. Definitely not a Mark series either. I've been able to snap pics of cars I see quicker with my new phone so hopefully I'll see it out and about soon

i know the option was availible on the eirly box town cars but, dident think that option survived to the 84-85 body refinment.
