Any adjustment in the fuel fill door???

I just noticed today that my filler door is sticking out away from the body, and it bothers me... this is a new thing... like some one has monkeyed with it.

Any one know if you can adjust this? it looks like crap!

You can shim it, take it off and apart, experiment with washers, or taking the two washers off. I just moved the spring steel tab forward or backward on the linc. Forget which way.

You cound just bend the hing a little. It's pretty flimsy.

Did it work? If not It does sound like someone tried prying the door, bending the spring steel peice; making it not pulling the door back in flush.

Mine was like that and I just bent the hinge back. Blaze is right, they are pretty flimsy. The doors and hinges get tweaked over time from use, and some people aren't really gentle with them.

I'm an idiot, the whole time I ASSumed it was an automatic fuel door. You probably whouldn't even have that peice of spring steel.

yeah i just kinda flexed the door against the arm like blaze sugested... its better now.

i've never had a problem with mine and christine, shifty, and the merc used to go through 2 tanks a week. besides everywhere i went, i liikd peeling away at stoplights and shit

The old '84 GM I had, had an auto fuel door. They do stick out for some reason..
