    Hit a deer!!!

    Hi guys,

well the gm met a deer a few weeks ago, haha. impact was at about 70 mph. anyways insurance covered the repair, upon picking the car up at the shop i noticed that the front bumper cover, header panel and right fender colors dont match at all!!!! the shop refuses to redo the work also the repair amount was 1702.33 the insurance company cut me a check for 1737.99 and the shop refuses to give the the change because the owner says he did alot of extra work he didnt charge me for, what can i do about this, should i suck it up and leave it or should i pursue my 27 bucks in change and a new paint job??? thanks guys.

contact the insurance company and tell them about the shoddy work. They will cancel the check until the shop does it right.

you should absolutely not put up with that. They were paid to put the car back together in the state it was before the accident, and mismatched paint doesn't fit that bill. Call the insurance co, explain the situation. I'm sure they'll be happy to stop payment on the check until you're satisfied.

i had the same thing happen to my expedition. i think the color is off, but lighting can change it. everyone else thinks that it looks fine. have someone else look at it too. look at it in direct sunlight and different light bulbs.
        What happened here?

Also i talked to the insurance company and they say that the check has already cleared and theres nothing they can do, I must take the shop to court. Sorry the pictures suck it is much more noticeable in person.

the hood is darker than the header panel that doesn't line up with the fender... and that's on my uncalibrated monitor. In person it must really be crap.

It really is. also that gap bettween the hood and fender is wild!!! you can damn near get your fingers in there, haha. It really sucks that theres nothing the insurance company can help me with. now i have to decide if i shall take the shop to court or not... well for anybody who lives in southern minnesota i would not recomend lee's body shop in blue earth.

i just realized you are in albert lea. that color is WAY off. i grew up in rochester and now live in winona. my girlfriend grew up in austin. small world. take them to court, get them to do it right or refund the money. did you already agree to take the car after they did the work? if not then refuse to pick it up until they change it.

Screw that crap, tell the insurance company and the body shop by certified letter you're complaining to the BBB and your state Attorney General.

Make noise! That is complete BS.

Aside from the gap that is way too wide, why didn't the insurance company pay for a proper blending of the panels. I'm no body man, however, the paint should have been blended back to the hood and fenders to minimize color difference.

Check your original estimate and see if anywhere on it is shows time for blending the panels. If it does the body shop took a shortcut. If it doesn't call your adjuster and find out why.

i know that with new paint it will def be brighter than the old stuff, however with out proper blending ,and a improperly aligned fender is bad news
