door handle transplant?

I am wondering about the possibility of swapping Town Car recessed door handles to my car.


What kind of sheet metal wizardry would need to be done? I'm just throwing ideas around, not actually going to attempt it myself any time in the near future.

Just cut out the area of the town car handle and cut out a matching area on your car, and weld her in place. Make everything smooth with body filler. I would assume the handle uses the same rod type mechanism so it would easily connect to your current door innards.

A while back this television show called Musclecar on Spike TV did a very similar thing to their buick project. They did what I just wrote, but also had to bend up a rod to actually unlatch the door properly. They made it look really easy.

you realize you can't use Towncar doors right? Just need the area around the handle, and I suspect you'll find the body lines don't quite match up so things may get interesting.

Neat idea. I once wanted to swap on Lincoln doors to get the recessed door handles, before I realized the doors were different.
