Well, despite being time challenged of late, I've decided that my woodgrain needs to go, but it's such a royal pain removing all that glue, that it is worth looking into other options.
Besides, enough of the clear coat is gone that it will be relatively easy to sand the rest off and give it a fresh coat of primer or something.
I've considered getting 1/16" diamond tread aluminum and cutting it to fit over where the woodgrain is. Maybe even repaint the original trim and reuse it. In most places the body is straight enough it should be doable, but I'm not sure how it would work at the wheel wells.
Another option is to get some rolls of woodgrain vinyl similar to the original. Of course if I'm going to go to that trouble, I have more options. I'm not interested in some goofy fake carbon fiber, or gold, but there might be something else interesting that isn't quite so ricey.
Suggestions? Or even better, has anyone discovered a quick way to get the glue off?
