    Vinyl top glue removal

We removed the vinyl top off of my 89 crown vic and have decided to go with the smooth top for my repaint. Problem is the old glue removal. Anyone got any tips on this without wrecking the paint ?
    Cheers

acetone or lacquer thinner.......soak it into the fuzz real well, then scrape it off with a long handle razor blade scraper......i havent found a way to do it without damaging any paint, the glue really got into the paint on the roof

3M General Purpose Adhesive Remover, I got it at a Carqeust autobody place.

This stuff is great for removing that crap, just pour it on and let it soak in for a few minutes and it will scrape right off. And there is basically no way to save the paint completely, but the best way to cut down on scratching into it too bad is to use plastic putty knives.

Oh, and get the remover in a jug for the top of the roof, and in the spray can for the sides, it makes it much easier.

      Good luck

Aircraft Remover or automotive Zip Strip?

Heat, a scraper, and a wire wheel worked wonders on removing 40-year-old undercoating from a vehicle I was working on a few years ago.

I just went at it with a razor blade scraper. It sure was ugly after that battle was fought.

Then once all of the stubborn fuzz was removed it was able to be sanded down
