Can someone give me a step by step on door replacement?

The front driver's door on red '90 is destroyed. the front driver's door on the gray '90 is not destroyed.

I need to put the gray door on the red car.

aside from the obvious bolts and wires, what goes in to removing and re-attaching a door?

I do not believe there is a bulk harness so remove the door panel and unplug everything electric and push it through the door grommet and lay the harness inside the car. Put a crate underneath the door and looses the four bolt holding the door to the hinges. Remove door and put new door on and push the harness back inside the door and re connect everything. Aligning the new door will be a pain in the rear. Be VERY careful during this process because if you are not careful you could fuck up the fender or the door.

        Remove the door panel

Snake all of the electrical out of the door through the grommet in between the hinges and let the stuff hang somewhere out of the way (interior of the car)

Unbolt the door from the hinge (NOT the hinge from the body - this will greatly simplify alignment of the door)

Put the gray door on the red hinge/red car.

Snake all the electrical back into the door and plug it all in.

Close the door to check alignment. Since you didn't fuck with the hinge-to-body alignment it should close easily on the first try.

If alignment is required (door doesn't sit flush with the rest of the body) loosen the bolts holding the door to the hinge and with the door open push or pull it accordingly in order to line it up.

        Replace the door panel.

It might be good to have a helper if you've never done it or are more petite as these doors aren't very light and it's very, very easy to fuck up the door, the fender, the rocker, etc. if you slip.

Does the damaged door still open and close? If it was destroyed by a collision there may be structural damage that would prevent a replacement from aligning.

That'd have to be a pretty hard collision at a really sharp angle to fuck up the pillars like that without ruining any of the other panels, and if it were that hard Jill would've certainly posted about it.

                  yeah it does.

someone actually hit the while the car was parked and my buddy was getting out of the car! and the cops said it was his fault!? wtf. anyway.

                  the frame seems fine.

the hinges seem just fine too. if not we'll just take those off the gray car.

that was a fuck you because I did about 98% of the work and claudio just watched me and took pictures. asshole.

it's not lined up perfectly. that's tomorrow's project. loosen the hinges at the A pillar and float them around until it's straight. yay.

Your fender looks fucked up in that one picture. How long did it take you to snake everything out of the door and get it all back on?

those are both Claudio's vics, by the way. mine was in the backyard.

yeah the fender's a little shitfucked, but it always has been. it's got rust holes too so we just fucked it up more on purpose.

uhhhh.... it took about thirty seconds to get the wires all out and it's still not all plugged back in haha.

Sorry, my definition of destroyed differs from yours. When you said destroyed i pictured a banana shaped car. Car's looking good! Wish I could find doors for a tudor as easy as a four door. The bottoms of mine are eaten with rust.

Jill. I noticed that nobody has mentioned my favorite little tip. Grab a block of wood or something similar and a Jack to help with the door alignment.
Close the door a bit, but not so much that you can't still reach the hinge bolts. Then support the door on the Jack. Loosen the bolts on the appropriate hinge and raise/lower as needed.
