PPG paint codes?

It is time to choose a color for my car. I need good sites that have paint codes and all for me to look at. Any and all help is appreciated.

Doesn't really just list them out, but you can go through different OEMs and models to find colors you like. The colors I chose for my car are all 1999 Mustang colors.

Really I think your best choice would be to go into an auto body supply store and ask to flip through any paint chip books they have.

You know of any place that just gives out a shit load of color codes with a pic of teh color?

ya, your local body shop should be able to direct you to a paint supplier and they will have hundreds of paint chips. also, you can go online and looking at new cars and their color options.

Paint chip books will be more accurate too, depending on what kind of monitor you are using (LCD or CRT) and what angle you are looking at it from the color could be way off from what you expect.

Unfortunately I can't seem to find just a huge grouping of colors. There must not be a huge market for such a thing. The site's kind of difficult to navigate but it'll give you an idea. I'd definitely double check the color codes in person before making any purchases unless you feel safe with slight deviances. There's no way to reliably know that your paint online is going to look the same in real life due to color differences in computer monitors.


What I personally do is turn the world into a paint chip book. Look at every car (a sunny day is ideal) everywhere and concentrate on the colors of the paint. That way you can see how the color should look once it's all done, and it'll give you a good idea of what you should buy. Parking lots are great for this.

Say you want to paint your car blue, and you see a 2001 Mazda Protege5 painted a really fantastic flashy blue and say "wow, I really love that color!" Take note of the model and manufacturer, and if you can figure out what year it is, do so. If not, use Google and search different years along with the model name and you'll soon figure it out close enough. Then you can use one of the provided sites to look up the year, make, and model of the car and find the name/paint code of the car.

Ideally you'd want to find the paint code off of the car whose color you like, but if it's some stranger that just drove by you on the highway you can't quite do that.

Barring that idea, paint chip books are the next best thing. Viewing paint online isn't forbidden, but be aware of the risks.

I looked at a very large array of colors from 2004back to 1997 on all foreign cars and nothing really appealed to me. I am gonna check out that site Nick

Some of the new F series truck colors are nice. I like the blue. could also check out the mustang codes as previously stated. Are you painting the jams and stuff in the car too so it looks factory?

I will be painting the door jambs myself at home with a spray gun before final paint is applied to the rest of the car.

Yeah on paint scratch that is the code..on the auto color library I cannot find it
