I m getting my car recleared and some body work done. I stripped almost all the trim off of it. The repairs they are doing are some small dents in drivers door. Than 4 spots of rust (surface) biggest one is maybe the 3" in diameter. Than fixing on spot in the back where bondo is cracking and than two small cracks on doors from bondo. Thats all the repairs they are doing than they are reclearing car. They want a grand for the work you think is good deal? Basicly its a garage job with people that used to work at a body shop but got laid off. I know one from school. I wanted the to wet sand and polish car too but idk. I think macco would do what they are doing for $700. But I havent got estimates figure they are better quality... Idk

Just painting was 1k on my car, and that was me doing all body work, primering the body worked spots, and hand wet sanding the whole car. If I had not sanded it myself it would have been 2k. You get what you pay for though. If you know the guy is good this is a deal."Shakedown"- 1991 Grand Marquis GS Dual exhaust, Magnaflow xl turbos, Rear anti sway bar, Outlaw 1 wheels, 43k miles

Dear Panthers,
The Boulevard Cruiser was painted ten years ago. No clear coat, just paint. Small rust streaks here and there, otherwise looks good. My bodyman told me recently that next time it'd cost me 2 grand.

They must be blending the worked areas with paint, then re-clearing the car.~David~

Yeah it may be worth it to ask about how much primer and a new color coat of the same color would be, even the best can't blend paint that well."Shakedown"- 1991 Grand Marquis GS Dual exhaust, Magnaflow xl turbos, Rear anti sway bar, Outlaw 1 wheels, 43k miles

Uncorrect.
I have seen incredible blend jobs where even the keenest eye can't see that anything's been done, even knowing what spots to look at. They're actually not very difficult to do. Just need practice. Some people can do them, and some just can't. With the kind of hack work I've seen in body shops before though, I wouldn't be surprised if they came out looking spotty.

Yeah I have seen jobs where there was a big dent and they blended in the paint perfect. I was amazed that I couldn't find any evidence even knowing where to look...That is rare though.~David~

As with anything else, you get what you pay for. We used to have a sign in our bodyshop.
It read:
Good.
Fast.
Cheap.
Pick two, because you can't have all three.sigpic

That much body work, blending ALL those areas, and prepping the car would cost over that at most body shops. If you know them well enough for them to be giving you a hook-up, that's one thing. But I would be worried about that price. When it seems too good to be true...Awesome Electronic Cigarettes
