All Trim Removal and Proper way to do it.

So my car is getting some body work done and recleared in a couple of weeks I want to know how to properly remove all trim to get it ready. I think we get a couple of people to get a good write up with some pictures we should sticky it or archive it cause this cause come up a couple of times but never been put all in one spot which might be useful. By the way for all body work on car and reclearing the rest $900 doesnt sound to bad to me.

If you set up a template (like a list of what trim you have in mind to remove) I will complete it by giving all of the answers as I have removed 99% of the trim on my car.

900 doesn't sound all that bad, how much body work is being done?

the rear quarter window trim is hard to take out since the molding goes on with fancy metal tabs then the window is glued in place over the tabs. you can remove the trim with the window in place but, the window might leak after due to holes in the sealer.

Lower rocker trim pops off, and there is a spring type clip in the back near the fender, you have to reach around and undo the acorn nut. I've never done the roof trim myself.

Lower lower rocker: Acorn nut in rear wheel well. Remove the nut then just pull the trim directly outwards working your way to the front. You will hear the popping of the clips un clipping from the lower lower rocker trim

                Granny lower trim:

The front wheel wells have a couple of screws holding them in place. Remove the screws then slide the trim forward. There are slots on the back side of the trim that need to be lines up with thee clips on the car. Once they are lined up the molding comes right off. The same goes for the lower front ¼ trim and the back ¼ trim.

The door trims have two acorn nuts one in the front and one in the back. Remove those then just pull away from the door starting at one end working your way to the other.

¼ window (opera) trim: Special tool! Bend a 90 degree angle on a flat head screw driver and wrap the bend in foam and tape. Take the new tool and gently work yourself around the interior of the trim (your bend of the screw driver will be forcing upon the glass) until all of the black clips are fully shown. Then just pull it off.

Dew wipe: Remove mirror and remove door panel. Locate screws under vent window (from the inside) and at the front and rear edge of the dew wipe. Remove those three screws. Attempt to pull up on the dew wipe from either the front edge or the back edge. Be careful as it may not budge, but keep working on it and it will eventually come up and off.

If you want to know about any other pieces just ask.
