how similar is an 89 to 90?

..at least I think it's 89..the Vic I see parked in some dudes backyard of parked old cars looks almost identical to mine on the outside but I don't know if it actually is or not...what body pieces are different? the rear panels look in better shape than mine, and it has the trim pieces all along the bottom of the car whereas mine doesn't. I'm hoping to get the stuff, at least - The guy wasn't home again today when I went to ask about the cars.

All exterior body panels are the same. The floor pan, and dash are different.
Also the doors, have a different window motor in the 90-91, than the 79-89 versions.

Last but not least, the speakers in the front doors protrude on 90-91 whereas they are mounted flush on an 89.

The seats will work, but you will have to reuse your existing sliders.

Pretty much everything else is the same.

Rear seatbelts are different. 90-91 have shoulder belts, 88-89 don't, so the C-pillar trim is different also. Manual windows & doorlocks were discontinued after 89.

the trans shifter and linkage are different too but, yea they are pretty much the same

It's mostly body panels that I'm worrying about....there are two cars parked there, the 89 Vic looks in good shape (last inspected in 04) and the Merc is torn apart (last inspected 02) but I can use most of the dash from the Merc and the exterior panels and trim from the Vic...assuming he wants to get rid of them.

Wiring is also very different across the board. '90+ didn't have the salt and pepper shaker connections at the engine. Dash wiring is different, not to mention the dashboard and framework, likely due to the floorboard and firewall redesign.

Body panels are about the only thing you can use.

Yeah, all I want from it. It has a set of turbines but I don't know if I could get the rust off of them?

No. What you are seeing is not rust. Aluminum does not rust. Aluminum pits/corrodes, and coated aluminum peels and dirt gets trapped behind the clear coating and makes everything look like hell. But bottom line is aluminum does not rust and never will rust.
