    Question about bumper moldings.

Within the next year, my father will be getting parts rechromed for his street rod (48 Austin). Well, beings he is going to be sending that stuff in, how would a panther look without all of the rubber moldings around the bumper? Trying to make the car look as clean as possible here, and I thought maybe welding up the holes and smooth everything and just have htme both rechromed (along with a lot of stuff). Any thoughts on how it would look, or does anyone have a bumper without all the strips and no massive ass blocks on it?

Not sure about years but I personally like the two blocks because they look mean and offer some protection.

              It would look like this:

Not good at all. I just put the bumpers back on to drive it home from the paint shop. Then, bumpers came off for rechroming. Fillers will go back on when the bumpers come back.

lol I was talking about the rubber moldings and blocks on the bumpers themselves. Wait, neums, you have an 86 dont you? if that is the correct bumper, I might have a couple parts on my to find list next time I go to the yard (next year ). it would be easier to patch up 2 small hols on bothe ends. I really like it.

OK, I understand. The strips on the bumper itself, not the fillers between the bumper and the body. Here is a 1982 without strips or blocks:

And yes, my car is an '86.

I think the filler's are really helpful. When someone taps my car while "parking," they get a nice gouge in their bumper cover and I get nothing. If something did happen to them, they cost next to nothing to replace. Simple, effective, and thoughtfully designed.
