    stolen keys

Hi from England, so, some scumbag has just stolen my '06 sonata (no problem) real problem is my '96 Gran Marquis keys were in it Doh! Anyways, My locksmith said he can cut a new key for me if i get the door lock barrel out of the car, Looks like it has to come out thru front of the door after the handle has been removed, the handle seems to be riveted on to the door, is this correct? any ideas anyone ? As this car is real rare in this country and there are no US car dealers over here its a problem.

I can't picture removing it from the outside at all... but a good tow/repo man will be able to slim-jim the door open. I've never done one an aero but some door cylinders come out easy once the door panel is off.
You can order new ignition cylinders with keys here, Im sure you could get one express delivered.

Try and find a looksmith and have him cut new key using the VIN code, it can be done.

He is in England. A british locksmith is not going to have the same resources available to him, especially for a vehicle that was sold over here.

Perhaps someone here can use his VIN code to contact a locksmith and make him a key? It might take some time but that wouldn't be a bad idea.

If you know someone that works at a ford dealer in the states you could just order a key for the car based on the VIN. When I bought a Plymouth laser from an impound lot I had a cousin who worked for a dodge dealership so she just ordered a key for me from dodge directly. Not sure if you could just call one and have it shipped to you, since they might be worried about someone trying to steal the car by buying the key from them.
