    Ex Taxi Sticker Removal

I got an old MGM that was a taxi for a very short time. All the outside stickers and numbers have been removed and to the guy in the street you wouldn't ever know it was a taxi. But, when you look at the trunk cover in a certain way you can see there is an outline of the telephone number. There is no sticker left there but you can see where it was. The paint doesn't seem faded around where the numbers were, but they probably left a clear glue film on the paint. Any idea how to remove that?

    Thanks

hmm... well if it is a glue then use a product like Goo-b-gone on it...if it's just the paint then i recommend using a rubbing compound or simmonizer, you can buy at any autoparts store, ive used Meguirs Ultimate Compound with a lot of success, you just may have to use a lot of elbow grease to get it out...also definitely use an all cotton cloth or better yet microfiber clothe as this will not scratch the paint.

and your in the right section, welcome to GMN!

What he said, or get a buffer, and buff it out... it may be because of some slight fading... and the buffer will even that out... just be real careful with the buffer... just some light pressure and some buffing compound, like the stuff you get at the auto body supply places... Then wax the car...
