You sure it didn't have something mixed into the clear coat? It'll still cause it to be glossy unless someone sprayed it on dry. Perhaps your buddy added some sort of flattening agent? That's the way to do it with a typical two-stage paint job.

i'd have to ask him to be sure...but your probably right. that's wat was on top of my head that he told me. saw a lot of them recently at the Rod Runs here...and here's my other thing. so i want to keep the factory interior kolour. but i want to change the kolour of the car (the permanent job atleast, the next bunch of kolours are only for the bodywork). We decided early on, no Red, White or Burgandy. But i think that narrows it down to only matching something in the Gray/Grey family and i had thought about Gunmetal... wat about those? ideas, + or -?

Can gunmetal be had in a non-metallic? Like basically a dark solid grey?

So are you using a long sanding board, or getting by with a smaller block? I need to get me a sanding board before I mess much more with trying to get junk flat .....

i have no clue about the kolour thing...

but actually the paint that is on there we are taking off is acrylic enamel. the one stage paint and clear $h!+...we are using razor blades and peeling it off. (real easy) then sanding with 80, 120 and 320 to get everything smoothed out and then a single coat of black to cover the bare metal

You can try underneath the hood behind the hood insulation in a cavity of the hood, or if you remove the back panels to your front seats a build sheet may be stuffed inside there (that is where i found mine) or try underneath the seat.

Underneath the seat springs and behind the panel in the front seats. Be careful when you pop the panel for the seat, it's only pressboard and the nylon fasteners will tear it if you're to aggressive. Better yet, you can always pick up a pry fastener removal tool. They don't cost much and you'll need it for most panels in the car anyhow.

ok so it only took me like 30 seconds to take that panel off without breaking anything...the sheet is in there...well here now, but it's kinds mangled. is there anyway to get a reprint?

and i wen't to my garage this morning and got my angle grinder, the Nascar quik 3 ton Craftsman jack and 2 stands...and ofcourse the necassary drop cords...so since there is a show here tonight and i only have like an hour to work, i'm going to wait until tomorrow to start removing the nipples and wat not

Color shoulod be a 2 digit code like 3R ect. Paintscratch.com has a color database that you could use to compare and verify your color. The color kind of looks like Dark Sable Metallic 8Y.

the car will be going not far from the original almost gun metal gray...couple shades darker, then where the hump is on the hood and trunk, will be Viper Burgandy with 3/4" Marlboro Red separating the hump and the body of the car. New vinyl, burgandy...slick tops are nice to look at, but for mine i want it there. just gonna recover the the top part of the back seat and the head rests...they are really the only thing thats faded or anything. besides the dash pad

well got behind the other taillight and found more rust...so more repair went there...and redid the corners. removed the trim there...gonna fill that all in...only rear trim will be the under taillight. and it's going black sooner than later
