Where do the tranny cooler lines actually go into the tranny? Is it possible I already have a factory tranny cooler?

They all have a factory cooler inside the raidiator. U might have a external factory cooler if u have a tow package but I'm not sure. The lines go into the back side of the radiator on the driverside, the lines go back to the passenger side of the trans.

I'm pretty stoked to install this. It sounds like it'll be fun...I'm wondering about the return line though, which is which? Am I gonna have to stick a container under it to catch fluid when I disconnect it to plumb the cooler in there?

I believe the bottom outlet of the radiators stock cooler is the return...

The fluid loss will be negligible.

Are you running in series with the stock cooler or stand alone?

My theory may have been wrong, but I ran through the cooler first then through the stock radiator cooler.

Thought being that 'if' it is very cold the fluid could get too cold and by running through the radiator cooler second it could warm it up if needed..

Thats how mine is set up too, the parts car i got my cooler off was set up like that, so thats how i did it on my car.. so on mine, i cut the top steel line, and hooked the cooler there... But I was thinking about getting a trans temp guage just to see the temp.. than make changes if needed..

A guage with a switch to run it through the cooler only if hot would be ideal...

That's a neat thought. Would help keep it from taking too long to warm up. Is that difficult to implement? If not, I should consider trying to do it on my car since it still has its old auxiliary transmission cooler.

Wouldn't be hard, but would have to be custom built, doubt there is a kit...

Well they do make thermostat controlled coolers, one of the 2 external coolers on my off-road rig is a thermostat controlled unit....

I think the "staked plate" coolers work kind of like a thermostat... the warmer the fluid gets, the more of the cooler it uses.

I must be fucking retarded..I can't get the grille off. It's not screwed on, it's held by clips, I think, but I (nor any other human sans double-jointed arms) can't reach them.
