well basically what im doing is paintin it black wet sanding each coat ,primer, color after wet sand im clearing it. and if you do it right yoiu shouldnt have orangepeel anyhow. im just wondering if i should go old school and do laquer or to use urethayne paint. just a heads up that maguires techwax is the best stuff for keeping a black car looking nice
i was thinkign laquer for now far as dings go i need whole new door on thr driver side rear ,i am just sanding it down to get out as much chips and stuff as possable then im painting it when i get out of basic next spring then ill go ahead and send it to be professionally painted and such , but for now maybe it wont look perfect but it will look better than what it look like right now.sides that it could be 5 diff colors but if its fast who cares lol i have a tons of stuff planned and when im done building it next yeaer it will be show and go. hand sanding still sucks!!! and yes ill probably be hand sanding the entire car

Might find some issues with attempting to slicktop a Town Car...

            +1

my truck has a shit-ton of little dents and imprefections, but since its white, if your standing 15 feet away it looks perfect.

No, you don't get it. Underneath that vinyl top is a fiberglass shell that the car's rear half sort of depends on. IIRC it holds the rear window if you have the privacy window. I know a guy who slicktopped his '85 and he had to recreate most of the rear half of the roof in steel because so much of it was originally fiberglass.

A Town Car is not as simple as a Vic to slicktop. That car will not be done in four weeks.

Also: learn what a run-on sentence is and then learn to not type one. Your posts are near-impossible to read.

It may not be an easy task, but I am interested in seeing him try!

lol... all right provide lots of pix! I don't think anyone's ever slicktopped a Town Car and provided photos. I'm sure everyone would be interested to see what it looks like under that vinyl.

It does not look that pretty. Scott and I had the misfortune of seeing one up close and personal.

I know, but he sounds determined to do it, and if he does, I think photos should be posted. They're more fun to look at than text.

it should be set up to accept a large rear window if you remove the fiberglass shell extension. to coccect the rest interior wise, you should get different stuff from junkyard car... like sail panels etc. you will see what is needed after removal... i posted pictures of a white towncar with shell removed before on here someplace. i will look for them.
