86' tail lights on 89'

hey there i just wanted to know if i can but the 86' GM lights on my 89' GM its the ones that have the chrome lines on them i don't know how it would look but if any one has done this would be kool to see thanks

i wanted to do this to mine but i think the sheetmetal of the trunk and the end caps of the quarter panels are diffrent, probably the bumper too. i dont think its a direct swap

but i do think the older tail lights with the chrome strips are just signature mercury all the way. now all i need is a sequencial turn signal unit

I'm pretty sure the end caps of the quarters are different, but since I'm not too familiar with the 88+, I'm not sure exactly in what ways they are different. It may be as simple as drilling new holes, to make the old pre-88 taillights fit.

Only way to be sure is to try it!

well i live in montreal, canada and we don't have the best scrap yards here not like in the states it's like christmas over there

LOL - you'd be surprised how few boxes you can find most places! And those are often quite trashed and/or go to the crusher in pretty short order. The Pennsylvania guys apparently have lots of good local yards, though.

Hm, I kind of like the idea of sequential turn signals on a box Grand Marquis ....
