1979-1981 if i remember right. notice it has the slotted bumper and clear signals which leads me to believe that is an unobtainium 1979 2 door. easier to probly just swap the front doors from an early panther compared to all the mods that would need done.

Pretty sure I've also noticed that in '79 you could also get regular manual mirrors (where you have to roll the window down to adjust them) instead of remote-manual. Only the remote-manual cars got the neato streamlined mirrors you refer to. Note that as hard as the d/s streamline mirrors are to find, the p/s ones will be even harder because a lot of cars came with only one mirror!
I kept the complete front doors from my '79 wagon for just that reason (plus the fact that the locks and latches worked really well!). The chrome is badly pitted, but I'm planning to smooth and paint them anyway.
It's often occurred to me that Fox-body mirrors *might* be able to be used, as they were used in several more years' worth of production (including power versions in Mustang coupes from about '87 to '93). I don't know how the angle of the window frame would match up, though. Supposing they could be adapted (and/or '79 mirrors but not glass could be located), I imagine that with a great deal of care, it *might* be possible to modify your existing window glass with a diamond cutoff wheel (such as they use when making slotted-style glass tea infusers).
Dew wipes, by the way, could be easily modified to match with a utility knife (several vertical slits over the inner trim and cut the outside to meet the bottom of he mirror), and I'm *guessing* the felt channel weatherstrip could be adapted just as easily.
Not only better looking, but I found the more forward location handier to use once you get used to not having a convex mirror on the passenger side. (no sticker reading "objects are closer than they appear") One of these days I'll have to get around to investigating the Fox mirrors, but the early ones of those don't seem to exactly grow on trees either.
