To remove or not to remove?

    To remove or not to remove?

    Since my car may go slicktopped, if there is no rust underneath, i want to know if i should remove or not remove the main molding running from side to side over the roof of my CV.

    I like how it looks on the car, but want some opinions if i should leave or not leave the one main molding.

    I'd leave the top alone honestly.

          put a new vinyl top on

          1986 lincoln towncar signature series. 5.0 HO with thumper performance ported e7 heads, 1.7 roller rockers, warm air intake, 65mm throttle body, 1/2" intake spacer, ported intakes, 3.73 rear with trac lock, 98-02 front brake conversion, 92-97 rear disc conversion, 1" rear swaybar, 1 3/16" front swaybar, 16" wheels and tires, loud ass stereo system, badass cb, best time to date 15.94 at 87 mph. lots of mods in the works 221.8 rwhp 278 rwt
          2006 Lincoln Town Car Signature. Stock for now
          1989 Ford F-250 4x4 much much more to come, sefi converted so far.
          1986 Toyota pickup with LSC wheels and 225/60/16 tires.
          2008 Hyundai Elantra future Revcon toad

            I could go either or, but it's a lot of work to make it look good as a slick top. My top is in good shape so I'm leavin it. And I like how it looks.

              I am thinking of adding a black top!! The car would be repainted dark metallic brown (well thats not the original color) and i may want the hood and trunk black as well?

              Is that super bad taste?

                  How about a full vinyl top?

                  Slicktops are great (I'm partial), but I also like full vinyl roofs as well.

                  Dark brown is a great color. I think a full vinyl, in either brown or black would look great.

                      i dont want a FULL vinyl top. i'll stick to the half and half.

                      LOL wrapping the whole damn car in vinyl.

                      I am now thinking to have a black top, like said above, and two tone the car black and brown.


                      Anyone have any pictures of how these cars were two toned. I am really considering the top half of the car black and the bottom half brown just need to see where the line is drawn.

                          So from that picture it seems the "seam" of paint will run along the to edge of the fender way out to the back?

                          I want to do it like it was done from the factory just need dome good reference pictures.

                            ahhh fuck it. I am gonna go for a black vinyl top. and have the roof painted black as well, like from the a pillars near the fenders up and including the roof. Should look cool. Thats what i am gonna try and do. Black vinyl, black roof, dark metallic brown body.

                              dark vinyl colors crack sooner... to set it off i would do a taqn vinyl or top paint so it doesnt turn into a sunbake oven in the summer
