Mine is exactly where the little steel crosspiece went on my '87. Never had a '88+ apart personally.

on a 90 there is a big metal brace in the middle behind the grille. the angle iron would be better, but each car is different. I wouldnt mind seeing some pics of lights and mounts, i know lots of people will reference this.
      What happened here?

im not sure if your 90 has the cross bar behind the grill (i think it might) but if it does thats where i had lights mounted and it was not a strong enough, the lights bounced on every little bump (i actually got pulled over because the lights bounced too much lol). might be able to strengthen the bar with some angle (either painted steel 1x1x1/8" angle or similar aluminum angle) bolted to the cross bar in a way that stabilizes the bar. (unfortunately i dont have my car here to try to take pics to show what i mean, hopefully you understand)

Yep I also had to fab a brace to the rad support to keep mind from vibrating as much.

Here's the aluminum nosecone brace on the '87 wagon ... it's roughly 1" x 1" x 1/8", just as was suggested earlier, and while I haven't actually mounted lights on it yet, it's much stronger than the flimsy thing they put there stock, even without the bogus extra bracing I'd added to the original. All I did was cut it to length, drill and tap 1/4-20 bolt holes, and screw it in place. If you can do something like this on your '88-'91, it'd make light mounting much nicer.

There's the spirit! This simple mod comes highly recommended, and it costs only a tiny fraction as much as the megabuck combo driving lamps you are contemplating.
