i think you would have a better chance painting a vehicle with rattle cans other than a roller with proper prep

I've thought about it quite extensively and i decided it's way to much work for the results. you can get real automotive paint and do it right the first time for a little bit more $$Give a man a fish and he will be fed for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will promptly forget that he once did not know, and proceed to call anyone who asks, a n00b and flame them on the boards for being stupid.

I've seen an orange 80's Mustang around with a roll on job. It looks ghetto to me and doesn't even seem worth the bother. If you want a budget job, do some prep work such as removing trim pieces and have a half decent shop lay down some single stage Nason paint.sigpic

I think its perfectly acceptable for a beater. as long as you thinned it and used one of those foam rollers it would probably turn out alright.Give a man a fish and he will be fed for a day. I've seen some Rolled-On paint jobs before that looked good from 20ft away, but up close they looked pretty ghetto and half-assed. I would rattle can a Beater, before I would use a roller. I've seen rattle can jobs before that looked halfway decent up close.

like i said, if you preped a vehicle properly, using rattle cans you could come out with a mako paint job with some finnishing.

If you want a roll job to look good from any distance you'll probably need to do a serious amount of color sanding.sigpic

There was an aticle on this... in one of the hotrod mags... The key is to roll it on pretty heavy. let it dry, then color sand it, then another coat... etc etc etc... Then when you get the paint all done... you LIGHLTY color sand it, and then buff it out... the corvair pictured above looks just as good close up... just wonder how long rustolium will last versus a vehicle paint... Altho Rustolium is an enamal paint... like the old school paint...

I do imagine rolled-on job will be cheaper than using spraycans, and keep in mind that except in the most skilled hands, a rattlecan job will still need plenty of colorsanding to make it look right.2012 Mazda5 Touring | Finally working on the LTD again!
