P72Ford - Those floorpans look damn good! I like that alot better than the Matte Black Undercoated look. Nice Work!

Here's a few shots of mine to help you get an idea as well. The first picture is of the Anti-Rust primer/ 3M undercoating I did a few years back. The last three are of the Por15 once it's on. I did some spots today on the frame and around the rear rockers (the dark shiny areas) and plan to undercoat the treated areas. It's not bad to work with but if it gets on you, it's staying there.

Ok guys I just ordered a quart of the encapsulator along with a 16 oz can of encapsulator, all black, I hope it will be enough, my trunk pan is the worse of it, mainly solid surface stuff, I'm putting it in the Haddonfield car show on september 13th, and Ill probobly start it that weekend too.

Sounds like a good start. Something I did notice with the Encapsulator is the finish is fairly matte, so If you are looking for some gloss you want to top coat with their chassis black. That aerosol was a lifesaver for getting into my trunk lid's back lip where they all seem to rust on the Merc's.

Ok thanks for the advice, I am planning on painting the underside black after I put the encapsulator on any way, weather it will be glossy or flat I havn't decided yet. I'll keep it posted

Well I did the underside of the trunk, it worked great, put on two generous coats! leaving it as is, and plan to do the rest of the underside soon, which will be much more difficult then what Ive done so far.

              Here are some pictures:

Thanks, It actually only took a few hours, prep involved some degreaser and dish soap mixed with water and a hard bristled brush followed up by a jet blast from the hose. I did as far up as I could in most areas (which was pretty much all the way up). The encapsulator is very thick, but it went on very smoothly, and i used about 1/8 of the can. I really want to see how this stuff holds up, I plan on using it on the bottom of my doors, around the trunk and hood on small rust spots. DIE RUST DIE! :50cal:

I guess I didn't have to wait until tomorrow to see this. Looks very nice mang!! I want to look at it in person. Kinda looks like a flat black.

Hey guys i was looking over Eastwoods website and think maybe it would have been better to use rust converter rather than the encapsulator. I fear the rust will just come back, as it seems the encapsulator is more preventative than anything else. The converter is actually supposed to change the rust into a black oxide whereas the encapsulator doesnt really do that, its more preventative. I did the rear floor pans, bottom of the doors, under the hood and trunk a little while ago as well. I guess I can only hope that this will last...To bad I allready spent 70 bux on this stuff, I guess we'll see.

yeah the converter makes the rust a primer. Then you can paint over it.

It will still last for awhile just being Rust Encapsulated, but you probibly will be doing it again in a few years. As the rust does need to be Chemically Neutralized before you encapsulate over it. This is why eastwood recommends their 3-Step rust elimination package, which consists of a 2K Rust Converter, Rust Encapsulator, and Extreme Chassis Black undercoating, applied in that order. Using that package of Eastwood products sure ensure that the rust Never comes back to haunt you.

hmmm yeah, i dont want it to rust through underneath, thats what im afraid of, i hope its better off encapsulated then left raw.

I'm in the same boat as you, I undercoated the car about six years but I never chemically neutralized it. I did use anti-rust primer under the undercoating which seems to be holding fine but if anything comes back I can just go ahead and use the neutralizer. Eastwood now sells it in a rattle can. I Por-15'd some rust spots on the front rocker/wheel lip just behind the tires and it's worked great so far.
