Seriously? Better than you'd think for such an obviously redneck solution .... I seem to remember all the plastic on my front bumper being Krylon'd a while back, and it still looks decent. That said, I recently got a new-styled can of their Satin Black .... doesn't seem to be quite the same stuff as the old Satin Black that used to lay down smooth even with an idiot at the controls, so if you go that route you may want to try a different brand.2012 Mazda5 Touring | Finally working on the LTD again!

Decent tire silicone with some type of UV filter in it works very well. The color is solid through so It should come back. I have a coffee can with some in it and use a small paint brush to put it on. I'd also consider 303 Protectant, I just made my Dad pick some up for his new tonneau cover and when he went to install it, the directions that came with it actually recommends the stuff. Used it on a spare set of kick panels and like how it came out but haven't tried it on the strips yet.sigpic

I've used back to black, tire shine, etc... it all eventually washes off. I did use the "bonds to plastic" krylon on the front tag bracket. Looks great and it didn't effect the grain. Hasn't chipped or anything with all the driving I do. Just doesn't match any of the other trim.Builder/Owner of Badass Panther Wagons

Interesting about the "bonds to plastic" product. Mike, do you have any experience with the new indoor/outdoor satin stuff from Krylon? I feel a little silly claiming they've changed their formulation, but all I know is that the stuff I used to buy would typically lay down on poorly-prepared surfaces without a hitch rather than fisheyeing all over the place.2012 Mazda5 Touring | Finally working on the LTD again!

Krylon Fusion....
I did clean mine with scotch brite pad and wiped it with acetone, then painted it. Came out great.Builder/Owner of Badass Panther Wagons

once the plastic fades, there isn't really much of anything you can do to bring it back. Paint will probably give the best and longest lasting results. As long as its very well cleaned, paint will bond to it just fine. The scotchbrite and acetone treatment should do nicely.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).
