Hi guys - I'm new here, but boy am I glad I found this board. I have an '89 GM LS in sore need of reshaping and I'm doing work on it bit by bit. It's a project car so to speak, but due to the pending sale of our second car it's about to go back into use.
Right now I have the whole interior out except the back seat and the dash. I have new carpet (with padding) to go in, but I'm not doing that until after I change the heater core.
The thing I need help with on the body is on the front cap. I had a little fender scrape with another car and it barely bent the driver front fender in. That's no biggie, but it also pulled (more like ripped) the front cap forward, splitting the screw seats that hold it to the fender. Here's what it looks like now:
What to do about it though? Should I look for a new cap or is there some way to repair the screw seats? This is the only major defect in the body and I plan to get a paint job after I fix this (the original is all KINDS of scratched up), so I guess a cap of a different color from a yard wouldn't be bad. Thanks for any input though.
