Went and bought a D/A sander, sandpaper today.... starting the tear down / sand/ repaint of the 91... Pictures later... I am going to TRY to get it in the shop tommorow afternoon... I have to put two front doors on the car, sand the entire car, take all of the trim off, and anything else that may get in the way of a good paint job... And drive it over to the shop...
It will look funny going down the street with two RED front doors... NO trim, NO grille, NO headlights, the turn signals just hanging out of the header panel (No headlight / turn signal housings!) Oh, also... Most of the chrome missing, also! Should be fun!

It will be a busy day tommorow!!! Tom....

Well, in the interest of taking my time, and doing the paint right this time... I am going to be working on it all weekend... I went to the windshield shop i use, and had them remove the chrome trim around the windshield and back window... I have the tool to do it, but it has a brand new windshield, and don't want to risk breaking it... be sides, since I get all of my windshields from them, they didn't charge me to remove it... Also, there were quite a few "Clips" that hold them on that were missing... he went in the back and came out with a bag of them, and gave them to me.. told me to bring them with me when I come back to have them put the trim back on... and he will make sure all of the clips are back on the car, before he re-installs the trim... There was only ONE on the passenger side of the windshield... Supposed to be three... No wonder it always looked loose... I am going to strip and sand the car this weekend, and then put it in the shop on the 17th... And get it back the 21st... them reinstall everything.. And it will be ready for the Chicago show! I'm also taking the seats out, and the center console... to repaint the console, the seat tracks, and scrub the vinyl floors... so it will all look new.

      Work goes on....

      Tom!

Are you doing bodywork, or it doesn't need any/ a shop is doing it?

Good choice on the windshield trim removal. I broke the windshield in a box one time trying to get the trim off. Its not hard to do, but its easy to break the window if you mess up. Better safe than sorry. Those clips are kind of neat, but I think more often than not, they break, which may be why you are missing some.

Good luck with the paint job; white is a great color for a box, in my opinion. Post pictures too!

These were just plain missing... oh well... There is some minor body work to be done, which the body shop is going to do... (They have a really good body man, and gets the work done quick, to save you money on the body work hourly rate... and I am prepping the rest... I am going to sand the car all over.. including the cracks by hand... And removing ALL of the trim... If it will come of, it will be removed... I'll get pictures after I get it stripped... should be pretty funny looking... Also, they are fixing the front doors for me... instead of swapping them out... (The drivers door has about a 4 inch crease under the body side molding, the passenger door has a ding right in the middle of the crease about 3/4 of the way up the door... And some old bondo work around the mirror that is cracking now...) he said it was from being done wrong... and he will fix that... I had some new doors to go on the car... but they were manual roll up windows... and they would need to be converted to electric... I asked him about them swapping them out, and the cost of swapping the electrics... he looked at the doors on the car, and said it would be cheaper to fix the ones on the car... and he could fix them like new... So i said ok... Anything to save me time right now... I will still have the other doors for spares... in case some idiot runs into me! Pictures as I get the work done...
